80% of women have asymmetry
In fact, many of us have asymmetries of varying degrees (excluding illnesses such as scoliosis, cancer and cysts). The left breast is often the strongest, because that's where the heart is, so it takes up more space. Asymmetrical for as long as you can remember, or recently asymmetrical following a change in your life. Factors that cause this sudden asymmetry: hormones, pregnancy, breastfeeding or genetics. Although, personally, my family is all A-cups, and who knows why I'm a C-cup on the right and a D-cup on the left. I've always been asymmetrical, but it often happens in adolescence, a few months or years after my period.
As a teenager, it's hard to build yourself up when you have a complex about your asymmetrical breasts.
So I asked myself: Where does this asymmetry come from? Why am I asymmetrical? How can I find a solution to my asymmetry without going through surgery?
Where does this asymmetry come from ?
There are 3 tissues in a breast: adipose tissue = fat + glandular tissue = the mammary gland + fibrous tissue = what supports the breast. Asymmetry arises from the development of these tissues. More pronounced on one breast than the other.
The complex in adolescence
It's hard to build yourself up, to have confidence in yourself, in your body, to find yourself beautiful and to see yourself at your true worth, with this complex. It's not right that it's a taboo subject, it's what creates this complex, when it shouldn't! If someone had told me at the time that it concerns 80% of women, I would have felt less alone and “weird”. It was through the creation of Asymétrio that I learned to really love my body, and that's why I'd never have an operation. Now I love my asymmetrical tits too much to see them change.
How can we find a solution to this asymmetry without resorting to surgery ?
You have to reassure people that it's normal, that it's not taboo, that it shouldn't become a complex, that it's not serious because it's not necessarily a health problem. And let's face it, there's got to be at least one girlfriend who feels the same way.
If 80% of women really do have an asymmetrical figure, maybe we should stop having hang-ups about it from now on. NO? What do you think? If you or your daughter have asymmetry, or if you know a friend, pass it on! I'd really like to see women's bodies left alone, because it's creating complexes for us, and we shouldn't!
What is the most common problem you encounter with your lingerie ?
There are several recurring problems that can get in the way of your day-to-day life.
Does it droop towards the outside of the cup ?
Maybe it's just a question of the back clip not being adjusted properly. But if it's too wide and you don't feel supported, it's because your bust size is too big, so I'd advise you to go down a size.
Does it yawn at the top of the bonnet ?
Maybe it's just a question of adjusting the strap, but if it's already well up and your bustline and back clip are too far up, at shoulder blade level, it's not normal. It's a sizing problem - it's too big for you. Take your measurements. The cup is either not full enough, so take a cup one size smaller. If the bust is too high, the bust is too big. To be sure, take your own measurements.
Is the hat too big or too small ?
If your breast is crushed, the cup is too small. If you don't feel supported, the cup is too large. Each cup size corresponds to 2.3cm. If you take a wider cup, you'll be 2.3cm deeper. Conversely, if you take a smaller cup, it's 2.3cm less.
Is the bust too tight or too wide ?
It's obviously a question of size, too small or too big, so take your measurements to find out your bust size. Each size represents 4 cm. If you go up a size, it means 4cm more elastic around the waist, and conversely, if you go down a size, it means 4cm less lace and elastic.
Why wear a bra if you're going to take it off as soon as you get home ?
For the eyes of society
For support
To camouflage nipples
Because it's like panties - you're used to wearing them every morning, you feel naked without them.
And plenty of other reasons that are unique to each one.
The no bra is in vogue and I understand it
You still have to adopt it!
It's not that easy to kick the habit overnight. Some will tell me that it's a step-by-step process. You start by not wearing it on Sundays, then on teleworking days, vacations and public holidays.
Why wear it when you can do without it?
Why wear it when you know you can do without it?
Why wear them when you feel better without them?
I'll tell you my story
The story of a lingerie brand founder who hated bras and adopted the no bra for a long time. The last straw, you might ask?
As you know, I created Asymétrio because I'm the brand's 1st customer. So you won't be surprised if I tell you that I used to hate bras. I had 3 bras in my closet. I hated wearing them because they didn't fit. I had to adopt the no bra because I couldn't stand bras. I only wore them when it was “necessary”, and when I say “necessary” I don't mean for the looks of others, but for myself, to feel comfortable and confident.
When you have important appointments, self-confidence is essential. Some put on their best outfits, a lucky bracelet, a beautiful manicure: to each his own!
As for me, I couldn't wear a bra because it didn't fit, so I had to camouflage my breasts with my hair, or pay attention to my every move, such as not bending over too much so that people couldn't see into my cleavage, or running to catch the metro...
I'm asymmetrical, a C cup and a D cup for a bust measurement of 85.
How can I tell you that all my life I've felt weird and out of place? You can see why I only had 3 bras. And they didn't even fit, but they were the best.
I'd like to go even further in my story, by telling you a little about my personal life. Before creating ASYMETRIO, I was laid off. As many of you know, I had to keep up with interviews and important appointments. At the time, I was 50% into no bra. I could go shopping without a bra, walk my dog in the street without a bra, and do all the other things in life. With the exception of public transport and days at the office, in this case, face-to-face appointments.
So why wear a bra when I know I can do without one?
Knowing that in winter, with 3 sweaters, I was 100% no bra.
I'd simply answer you with these 3 points:
Support
Comfort
Self-confidence
Support and comfort : When you're a 1 D cup, with a heavy, sagging breast, I can assure you that a brisk walk is no comfort at all! When you're running around and have a busy day, it's extremely unpleasant to have no support. For an A, B or C cup, this answer may not be totally adequate, but at certain moments in life, it's more comfortable to have a bra that supports the bust, which is the bra's 1st property.
Self-confidence: it's not a “boat”!
“Oops” a nipple on the loose
“Oops, I've bent over and you can see everything.
“Oopsss” it's cold and my nipples are showing...
I know these situations, I've been through them, it's not dramatic, but even if it means having a good time, if my breasts could stay where they are, without bothering me, that wouldn't be bad!
It's still a bit embarrassing, but I think this argument is specific to each profile.
Having adopted the no bra, there are still, and it must be said, certain moments in life when I find the bra indispensable and that's ok!
That's also why it exists. That's my opinion, and again, it depends on each person's profile. I like to wear loose-fitting clothes, or clothes with a bit of cleavage, or whatever, I don't want to worry in the morning about whether I want to wear this outfit on this day, and not say to myself, “Oh no, I can't wear this shirt today because it's too low-cut and I'm not wearing a bra at this meeting...”. I'm certainly not going to change my dress style because of a bra.
The problem is that no lingerie brand carries my size!
So I sewed my first bras.
A bra without underwires or scrap separators for comfort, but with a certain amount of support, otherwise there's no point, let's face it.
A bra that combines: comfort and support, all with an elegant and trendy style. It's clearly the kind of product I'm happy to wear, like my best outfit that I'm in no hurry to take off at the end of the day. By choosing materials that are easy to care for, because we've got other things to do than sort clothes when we're making machines, everything goes through 30 degrees.
I can't hide the fact that it took me more than half a year (in intensive mode) to train for the 1st lingerie proto.
But frankly it was worth it, wasn't it ?
I'm happy to tell you today that I've launched a brand of made-to-measure lingerie for all women, which is also French, artisanal and made in France. Made to order, no stock, no over-consumption, we're a long way from fast fashion.
I'm not advocating bra-wearing 24/7, but comfort and self-confidence, which is what makes us accomplish everything!
Beyond the asymmetrical breasts that can be seen without a bra, I've made peace with this difference, but it's true that for some people, when you're 1 or 2 cups apart or even more, you can quickly feel self-conscious and lose self-confidence.
Asymétrio is my therapy. I've finally found a bra in my size that's comfortable and elegant. I feel beautiful and confident. I just have to find the lace I like, the bra style I like. The triangle bra that supports and centers the bust. Or the balconnet bra with its pushup effect. All without underwires or scrap separators.
